Origins of the name:   The original "Atlanta Songwriters Association" was founded in 1978 by Sony Executive "Tom Long" and Entertainment Attorney "Steven Weaver".  In 1995 the organization, under the presidency of Phillip King legally changed the organizations name to "Georgia Music Industry Association".  You can find current info on the original group by visiting:http://www.gmia.org
